Publications

The Competitive Statecraft Initiative is proud to have introduced two publications to Arizona State University’s Media Enterprise.

Inter Populum: The Journal of Irregular Warfare and Special Operations

Inter Populum aims to be a leading voice in the scholarly discourse on irregular warfare (IW), special operations, and their critical intersection. This peer-reviewed academic journal serves both scholars and practitioners, offering a platform for exploring topics ranging from historical case studies and lessons learned to contemporary best practices and the evolving nature of future conflicts.

Inter Populum accepts submissions in the following formats:

  • Research Articles: Comprehensive studies of up to 10,000 words that offer original contributions to the understanding or debate of issues related to irregular warfare or special operations.
  • Book Reviews: Analytical reviews between 800 and 1,200 words, focusing on recently published, commercially available books.

Small Wars Journal

The newly rebranded Small Wars Journal, now under the leadership of ASU’s Future Security Initiative, is dedicated to amplifying voices from across the spectrum of small wars stakeholders. SWJ provides a platform for both emerging and established authors to share their insights, contributing to a dynamic and impactful dialogue on national and international security issues.

Small Wars Journal welcomes submissions in the following formats:

  • Op-Eds: Concise opinion pieces ranging from 800 to 1,500 words.
  • Essays: In-depth explorations of approximately 2,000 to 5,000 words.
